About the Patch
Papa’s Pumpkin Patch and Polar Patch delight 50,000+ visitors each year.
Beginning in 1983, the Pumpkin Patch gave away free pumpkins to invited classes of local grade-school children.
In 1989, it opened to the public on weekends from mid-September to mid-October.
Now, more than 50,000 people each year participate in dozens of fun activities during the month.
Nearly 5,000 children ages 2-10 visit Papa’s on field trips each fall. Keeping with tradition, every first grader receives a free pumpkin, and all the children find a famous Pumpkin Patch cookie waiting for them when they leave.
And in 2007, Papa’s Polar Patch began providing fun winter activities during times when schools are closed for holidays and teacher conferences.
Each year for the past 27 years, the Pumpkin Patch has made generous donations to area charitable organizations, church groups, and neighbors.
The 2007 Pumpkin Patch celebrated its 25th anniversary by donating $25,000 to 35 area charities. In 2008, the amount was $26,000.
Since 1983, the Pumpkin Patch has donated a total of $250,000 in cash and in-kind gifts to charities.
